The manga stays faithful to the premise of the show and the personalities of the characters, but is notable for being darker than the original. It also possesses many changes regarding the specific events that occur, marking it as an alternate continuity.
Some changes include the absence of certain characters (e.g. the Beams, Norb, Sakuya), edits of past events (e.g. Renton's father, Adrock, died under very different circumstances), the Scab Coral's intentions, and altered roles (Dominic and Anemone play a larger part compared to the anime, whereas Talho's role is decreased).
The ending is also far more tragic than the anime's, as Dominic is stabbed to death shielding Renton, and Eureka disappears with the rest of the Coralians, presumed dead by everyone except Renton. The story ends with him, a year after the climax, still waiting for her to return home. There are three video games, Eureka Seven vol.1: New Wave, Eureka Seven: New Vision, and Eureka Seven V.2: Psalms of Planets. The first two games focus on two new characters, Sumner Sturgeon and Ruri, and act as a prequel to the anime (and to some extent, the manga). The third game is based on events of the first half of the show.
The Eureka seveN movie, titled Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven: Pocket Full of Rainbows (Psalms of Planets Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers in the English version) was first publicly released April 2009. Although it uses the same characters in name and appearance, the movie takes place in an alternate universe, with significant changes to the plot and characters' personalities.
