BEAM Robotics
The word "beam" in BEAM robotics is an acronym for Biology, Electronics, Aesthetics, and Mechanics.
Design mechanical robots using principles of hydraulics, pneumatics, servos and controllers. Learn to program your robots. Work with engineering tools; apply the principles of levers, gears and pulleys. Using easy to use, 3D modelling software create your designs digitally and learn the fundamentals of engineering drawing (isometric & orthographic). Apply principles of successful science projects while carrying out your research, planning and presenting your work. Get involved with the key stages of the design process: analyze, design, specify, build, test and deploy.
At the end of the camp carry your robots home and showcase your work during the Design Expo.
- This camp is most suitable for age 11+ innovators and wizards interested in science & technology, machines & engineering, construction and presentation.
- No prior robotics experience is necessary, construction experience is helpful.
- Apart from the core program, the camp day plan is well rounded and includes many warm ups, energizers, team builders and creativity contests during the camp day to win friends and cool prizes.
- 6 to 8 participants per camp.
